The Highway 101 bus route in San Diego stretches from Oceanside to University Town Center close to La Jolla. I live off Highway 101 in the Leacadia community of Encinitas. The bus service is ridiculously cheap ($2/trip or $5 for a day pass). I’ve started using it to take a relaxed ride for a meal when I need a break and time isn’t a problem. That’s why I’ve chosen to concentrate on the Highway 101 bus route…. getting to each location won’t add much to my research costs, and in most cases will be much cheaper than driving my own car. I’m not restricting myself to using the bus, but the schedule which runs from about 5am to after 9.30pm makes it a good choice if I’m not in a rush.
